Lake Tahoe

We departed our campsite at Gold Bluffs Campground, concluding our trip to the Redwoods, and began our trek to Lake Tahoe. On the way there, we made a pit stop in Redding to visit Alan, Nanda, and Willie. It was great to chat with them after so long and see their beautiful new home. Later that evening, we arrived in Lake Tahoe where we spent the next two nights and day driving around and checking it out. Unfortunately, a nearby fire made conditions really smoky and hampered visibility. But, we were still able to find decent views of the lake and enjoy our short time there.

On the way back to Las Vegas, we made a slight detour to view Devil’s Hole, a small entry point into a large aquifer in the middle of the Mohave Desert. Devil’s Hole and the surrounding area are part of the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge which is classified as a wetland due to the vast underground aquifer surfacing water through seeps and springs.
