Zion National Park

Angels Landing

On November 10, 2021, Cynthia and I woke up early and drove to Zion National Park with the main goal of hiking to the top of the famous Angels Landing. We started the hike at around 12:30 pm and and made it top by 2:30 pm. With such a late start, we were not part of the midmorning rush up the trail so we only experienced crowding at the beginning of the steep inclined section as the midmorning hikers were coming down. Beyond that point, the trail turned into a narrow path on large boulders, only marked by chain posts and other hikers up ahead. There were so many breathtaking views and exhilarating inclines and ledges that we plodded our way up taking a lot of photos and soaking in the mesmerizing beauty.

The “hotel”

The resort we decided to spend the night at was quite fun, scenic, and miserable. This was a glamping resort whose room options were a tent, covered wagon, or cabin. We chose the tent since it was the most scenic and spacious of the three. Now this was no ordinary camping tent; it was large and slightly elevated on a wooden deck and even had a balcony, which was all really great. However, the miserableness commenced when the nightly temperature dropped and the heated blankets (two of them!) could not keep us warm enough. Moreover, it was a gusty night and the inconsistent squeaking of the pitching tent poles and flapping of the tent canvas made it nearly impossible to fall asleep.
