Corpus Christi

February 20, 2022

A day after our trip to Austin, Cynthia and I again loaded up our snacks and tripod and hit the road for Corpus Christi and Padre Island. Our first destination was Padre Island National Seashore, a protected stretch of shoreline 70 miles long managed by the National Park Service. It is well-known for being a nesting beach for Kemp’s ridley sea turtles and every summer visitors can witness newborn sea turtles make their way to the ocean. One fun and odd thing the NPS lets you do is drive your vehicle up and down the beach and park anywhere to set up camp. If you’re in a capable vehicle, you can even drive the entire length of the beach (65 miles) but watch out for the tide.

After exploring Padre Island, we went into the city of Corpus Christi where we visited Cole Park and walked out on the pier. We then went into downtown and grabbed some dinner and drove around checking out the town.
