The Parthenon, Nashville

Nashville’s Parthenon in Centennial Park

We arrived at our house in Nashville in the evening, just as the sun was setting and proceeded to unload and unpack our things. After getting some dinner at a nearby Chinese restaurant, we discovered that we were not more than 3 minutes away from one of Nashville’s main landmarks, the Parthenon. Built in 1897, the Parthenon was built as part of Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition taking place that very same year, and meant to signify Nashville’s nickname the “Athens of the South” due to the number of universities in the city. It may not look that big in photos but it is a massive structure and a full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
