We took a drive out to Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage and toured his mansion and plantation. Our tour guide was in full costume from Jackson’s era and provided a very thorough account of all the major events that occurred in Jackson’s lifetime and was very knowledgeable of all his possessions. Prior to living in The Hermitage mansion, Andrew Jackson and his wife lived in an unimpressive two-story log cabin named The First Hermitage for about 15 years.
