We decided to make an unplanned drive to Grand Rapids, MI to take a look at a Ford Transit that met our requirements. We had been researching Transits for about a month prior and very few were available and for sale. So when we saw one that looked promising a few hours away, we jumped at the opportunity and headed toward Grand Rapids the very next day. We arrived at the dealership as it was closing but convinced the saleswoman to let us take a quick test drive before she closed shop. Not quite ready to make a decision, we found a hotel and spent the night in Grand Rapids.

The entire next day was spent at the dealership negotiating and then filling out paperwork for our new, but used Ford Transit. Despite the long wait for paperwork to process, we were finally able to secure the vehicle that would make trekking across the country much easier and convenient.
On our way back to Chicago, we stopped at Big Boy Burger, solely because it is headquartered in Michigan, and ate the worst hamburgers I have ever tasted. We then stopped at Indiana Dunes National Park and visited Mt. Baldy, a dune right on Lake Michigan.
