Long Island

November 5, 2022

We embarked on a day excursion to Long Island, which required a considerable journey from our location in New Jersey. We crossed the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan and made our way through the city, eventually reaching the Queensboro Bridge and entering Queens. After traversing the borough, we arrived at the rural and forested areas of Long Island, where we continued towards our destination of Setauket, navigating the picturesque parkways with caution, being mindful of the nerve rackingly low bridges along the way. During the journey, we made a brief stop at a Tim Horton’s for refreshments. Setauket is renowned for its historical significance, as several of its residents played crucial roles in George Washington’s spy ring during the American Revolution. On the return trip to New Jersey, we paused at a castle-like hotel and made a brief detour to Freeport’s Nautical Mile, where I discovered my long-lost alehouse.
