On a frigid Christmas day, we visited Arlington National Cemetery, first stopping briefly at the US Marine Corps Memorial with the famous statue of the flag raising on Iwo Jima. As we walked through the cemetery, the cold air biting at our faces, we were surrounded by rows and rows of gravestones, all adorned with miniature holiday wreaths. At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, we were the only ones there and had free reign to watch the guard from any angle.
